Pretty good flick. Extremely violent. Kick ass anime segment. Only dissapointment was the lack of dialogue featuring witty references to semi obscure pop culture we generally expect from Tarantino. As a matter of fact, about 25% of the dialogue is in Japanese. Soundtrack by the RZA of the WuTang Clan is great. But if you don't like blood, go see Intolerable Cruelty instead (even though I haven't seen it yet. But the Coen Bros. are great, And Mrs. Douglass is a world class hottie. I'll probably see it tomorrow)

There was something about watching Uma slaughter in tight leather that game me a semi mongrel, is that normal?

Simply brilliant filmmaking. The soundtrack couldn't have been better. More blood than Bon Fils. Can't wait for the second!

As for pop culture references... I have heard there are several references to martial arts movies. I couldn't pick them out though.

Sonny Cheeba was the original Street Fighter, David Carradine of Kung Fu fame is in it, etc.

Anyway, I can't put this any other way.

Go see this movie right fucking now.

I dare say its Tarantino's best work yet.

I think I might agree. I need to watch it about 30 more times just to be fair though.

Best Quinten sound track yet. The RZA held it down.

yep... no clue what it was about. I thought for a second that some of the blood was in color.

I guess I get to be the first to say I didn't like Kill Bill. The friend I saw it with didn't like it either. During the movie I got bored. I kept thinking to myself "why during an action type movie am I thinking of where to get dinner?". I just couldn't get into it for some reason.

I do have to say that I swear everybody in the theater lifted their feet off the ground and cringed when that nurse got his achilles sliced.

Fuckin Uma is sooooo hot in this one. But I would not say it beats Pulp Fiction in originality and flair. I kept thinking it was done along the lines of a spaghetti western meets Samurai Assassin (anyone remember that one? some of the best juglar pumping head lops ever. kinda felt Tarantino has seen it, too).
Yeah, lots of fight scenes, but a lack of true substance or documentation of culture as in Pulp. That cartoon was a cheap, but almost effective, way to transition some flashback history. Overall, eeeeh, ummmm, I don't think it was as good as Pulp, which I consider a patent hallmark in scriptwriting. I felt a little empty at the end

Because you really only saw half the movie. The whole thing was too long for Miramax so they're releasing it in two volumes.

OK, then , it was still no Lord of the Rings. But I'll hold off from a full critique til I see the other half. Coulda waited for the video package, I guess.
