I need your help. My old tired tunes are not cutting it. Looking for some new music in the following categories...
1) good adrenaline music that will inspire me to clean the big nasty trail behind my house this summer
2) good summer hangout music
3) good dance music for when we finally have our housewarming (and yes, you'll all be invited ;) ).
the only good discovery I've made lately is Modest Mouse....need more!
thanks... I knew I could count on you guys :).

Random stuff off the top of my head...
Adrenaline music....hmmmm.... You know what got me really jazzed for a day of skiing this season? Juned (http://www.uprecords.com/artists/juned/). Their self titled album has one of the more uhhh...interesting...covers around. That album and Every Night for You absolutely rock. Sadly, they broke up.
Also check out Built to Spill (www.builttospill.com). So friggen goooood.
Also check out the Asteroid #4 (http://www.asteroid4.com/).
On the mellower side there's the Stratford 4 (http://www.stratford4.com/).
For some beats/electronica (don't know where to really put these) try Waldeck (http://www.waldeck.at/) and U.N.K.L.E. (www.unkle.com).
Luna (http://www.fuzzywuzzy.com/) is great summer hang out music.
Oh and the Fontanelles (http://www.fontanelles.com) rock too (seems they have a new name).
Too many bands...mind overloading...
On a similar topic...I hear that Mexican Chocolate Chip cookies go really well with summer. :D

I'll drop a few mixed CDs in the mail if you like. Cannibalize them however you want, or just toss em if you hate em.

What are your old tunes? No point in reinventing the wheel and, knowing what you like already, we can make better suggestions.

just trust me - they're old and tired. And I didn't want to bias people about my musical taste (ahem, Rev- wipe that smirk off your face!).
pinner - email being sent right now - thanks!!

ESPECIALLY if you promise not to laugh, cause that's usually the sign of someone who's knows they're gonna be doubled over, clutching their stomach in side splitting laughter.

Most anything by Southern Culture on the Skids. They don't care if your pants are shiny, your dick is big or your dick is tiny.

1) Anything by Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Just fantastic good time throw down grooving toonage. Might be good for either category(Adrenaline) or category(dance).
2) Moby - Play, 18 (this may be old hat...)
3) Bill Laswell - Interesting bass and drums with arabic tones. Try Sacred System Vol. II or Nagual Site. Hang out groove. Also Seven Souls has William Burroughs reading his Book Of The Dead over Laswegian basslines. Spiritual Beauty is a good one too.
4) If you don't have Hot Rats by Zappa, at least give it a listen. Sort of jazzy hang out type music, but also good for being pumped up if you like rocking jazz. Others: Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Chunga's Revenge, Burnt Weenie Sandwich.
5) Amped up Miles Davis. May I suggest Agharta, Jack Johnson, or Live Evil. Bitches Brew is a watermark as well. Good for adrenaline or dance.
6) Tool - Lateralus. Amp up, adrenaline.
7) King Crimson - Larks Tongue in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black, Red, Discipline. All are in the adrenaline category.

Good stuff, play it into a mix of Morphine, Reverand Horton Heat, N. Missipi All-Stars, and some Mike Ness, and you have a good summertime mix.

Do you have anything by The Shins? Great stuff. Both Oh, Inverted World and Chutes Too Narrow are amazingly consistent from start to finish.
Belle & Sebastian's Dear Catastrophe Waitress is good. Nice upbeat summer music.
Give a listen to anything by My Morning Jacket. Pretty interesting band out of Louisville, Kentucky.
