This beast of a thread (http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10104&perpage=25&pagenumber=1) has got way too long and it will soon be lost in the larger sea of mayhem (or relagated to the Archives like it is now). So...... what the best place to download tunes these days? Last I used was Kazza but I've heard it is on a steep downhill slide.

Cheack out "Ares" You can get it from download.com I've been using it for a year now and I think its really good. The selection may not be as vast as Kazza's, but you can find most anything you want. The best part is that there are no ad's and no spyware.

I used to use Kazaa then used K-lite for awhile. Recently have been using Limewire, which works really well, check it > http://www.limewire.com

I've also heard that Suprnova has a bunch of good stuff, especially movies >>> http://www.suprnova.org/

the two nofx albums listed really miss some of thier best stuff...and i dont think a recording of a public preformance with previously released studio material qualifies for a album.

you need to include

nofx- ribbed
nofx-white trash, two heebs and a bean
nofx-the longest line ep (yea not a album)
nofx- punk in drublic
nofx- heavy petting zoo
nofx-so long and thanks for all the shoes
nofx- the decline ep (17 munite song of the tightest punk rock ever)
nofx- the war on errorism

of all the bands listed, i would put my $.02 on nofx being the most consistent, and having the most--if you like that style.

and what about

queens of the stone age- songs for the deaf

edited for the verification between a live recording technique i.e. all the pixies, beatles (let it be album), led zepplin (the ocean), and a recorded live performance.

Added this in the original,
Not wading throught the ten pages, just looking after the list in the music section I would also put up a couple of Los Lobs albums.

Go out and buy,

Kiko
Colosal Head
This Time

Dig those go get,
Good Mornign Aztlan
How will the Wolf Survive
The Neighborhood

Also off the top of my head
Reverand Horton Heat
Holy Roller
Space heater

Social Distortion
Live at the Roxy

Mike Ness
Cheating at Solitaire

I definitely have to second Caddy's Los Lobos recommendations. They're a band that's never gotten their just due, as they've put out some spectacular music. I own all their stuff. Those first three albums he mentions are definitely greats.

To add:
De La Soul - Stakes is High

bisnibble

Rollingstones -40 licks
Beatles -Past masters volume 2
Jay-Z -The Black album
Kanye West -College Drop Out(best rap cd I have ever owned)
Hot hot heat -Make up the break down

Killswitch Engage's album alive or just breathing is quite possibly the best metal album ever. Incredible mix of brutal screaming and beautiful singing on the same songs. Crazy. Their new album coming out in may, End of Heartache, features a new singer (the old one found god  ), and i just downloaded it, and it is about as good as aojb.
How is slayer's divine intervention on the list but south of heaven isn't?
another album is blackalicious' nia album. real hip hop for people that think that mtv rap is crap.

No, just at dredging up three year old posts.

I'd say I'm pretty good at doing that. It worked, didn't it?

And are you saying this music is no longer valid...? Cuz that would be a pretty ludicrous claim.

Nice dredge of a post, I had forgotten about this beaut.

She's updated upto the above post. If you want to make it easier on me (which I'm sure you don't), post your shit like this:

XXXXXX - XXXXXX XXXXX
XXXXXX - XXXXXX XXXXX
XXXXXX - XXXXXX XXXXX

Not like

xxxxxxxxx xxxxx, xxx xxxxxxx x xxx! Xxxx xxxx; x xxxxxxxxxx - xxxxxxxx xxxx

Makes cutting and pasting and sorting in Excel easier:the_finge
