So I'm buying a mountain bike. I have $1100 to spend, and I'm trying to decide which bike I should go with. I'll be biking in Colorado, cross country/all mountain, nothing too gnarly, I'm basically a beginner, but athletic and a road biker...I'm definitely looking for a bike I can eventually upgrade.

The Cobia is around $1000

The Jamis is a new 2006 model, from an online bike shop It'll be $680 to get it to my door (it was about a $1300 bike in 2006)

I'm 6'6" but only 180 pounds, so I had been looking into 29ers....but now that I found this Jamis, I'm not sure. I've heard great things about Jamis.

Should I go with the Cobia and pay the premium for the 29'er, and plan on not upgrading much, or get the Jamis, settle for the 26'er, and swap out some components after a while (probably the fork first).

Opinions, flames, rants?

Thanks
