Hello Jackson, I have to say I deserve a much needed trip to your fine resort to ski some sick lines and relish in the killer nightlife Jackson Hole has to offer. I haven't been there since the late 90s so I'm looking to spend some time away from the city. The first time I skied the resort I was in hip deep pow under the tram. Wow!!!! What a trip that was. I wanna get that feeling again. Ive been powder starved for years now. Jackson Ive so missed you. Ive been on trips since then but there's only one Jackson Hole and we caught a 311 show to boot. Sitting behind a desk all day is beginning to frickin kill me. I currently ski Sun Valley, Brundage and Bogus Basin Come on back to me Jackson Hole!!! I hope my knees can handle it if I do win. I blew the left one out in 96.
Wow, where do I start? I know that I am worthy of a Jackson vacation...just ask my husband!! Well, really, we lived in Jackson, both of our children were born in Jackson, and we have not been back to visit together since we moved to the Northwest in 1994. Some of the most memorable times of our lives...Tetons, skiing, snow, snake river, fishing, hiking, climbing and on and on. WE LOVE THE TETONS! For the past 15 years we have lived in the Cascade Mt. range. Our kids (now 19 and 22), my husband and I all work at Stevens Pass Ski Area. We have raised two incredible snowboarders and my husband and I ski 70+ days /year, while bartending at the Bullstooth Lodge at Stevens. Oh, we are the worthy ones...because....we had one of our first all out vacations (no work, all play) scheduled for this month, when, lo and behold, fires began in the northwest. My husband, being a fire fighter in the summers, was fighting fires while our vacation got sidelined. So, what better remedy than visiting old friends and skiing our butts off at JHMR?? I know the snow will be epic at the mountain this year, and we plan to get some of it!! So please pick us to enjoy the snow, the village, old friends, and the down home Jackson that we hold dear to our hearts!!! And I hope you enjoy the photo of how we train hard in the NW!!!!
HHHEEEEYYYYY JACKSON! So I'm ready to get wild! I am currently a skier with huge student problem. Whether sand or snow, dirt, water, or concrete stairs, I love being on two planks. My parents buckled my boots when I was 2 and pushed me down the mountain and have been getting after it ever since. I go to school in Northern Northern New York in a small town called Canton and have been counting down the days until the mountain opens. I loved skiing the east, but as soon as I went to Jackson, the East has not fully satisfied my skiing desires. This winter I've got no job, and plans for Jackson. Problem is though, my car just broke down so I have no way to get westward bound. Please Jackson Hole get me out there! I've been to Jackson once, and just have to make it back. My brother works as a liftee and I've been dieing to visit him. I would offer my body, knowledge, possessions, anything but my skis to get out there. Alright Jackson Get at Me!
Sitting behind the line at work in the kitchen of the now defunct Alpenglow Inn at the Big Mountain ski resort working on a hundred plus day season, broke, hungover, with hurting knees and reading a snowboard magazine one line hit me particularly hard; “one day you wake up and realize you’re just a broke alcoholic line cook with bad knees”. Maybe (but probably not) it was that line that inspired me to move on in life by going to college and to work a series of “real” jobs . But that still has stopped me from pursuing one of my greatest passions: snowboarding. Ten years later I still haven’t missed a year without getting a seasons pass (now at Montana Snowbowl) and get after it harder than ever before. This picture was taken in the middle of the Rattlesnake wilderness on our way to ski an obscure line I’d been staring at for years. It might have never been skied before but it doesn’t really matter. It took two friends and I two days to camp and skin across the wilderness to ride and ski this one line and it was totally f-ing worth it.
"Dude, Corbet's is the way to go!" What can be more enticing than that? I got into skiing when I was little, and as I grew up my father brought me each year to Jackson. Every year I was too afraid or the snow was too low, but this year, I have both the guts and the glory to try Corbets, and I am willing to do what ever it takes to get me and my bro up there for a couple of days of shreddin pow pow and hanging some air. Not only do I ski, but I love to swim, mountain climb, and dirt bike, which is why I'm hoping to get up to jackson over the summer to do some bikin' on the mountain. Once you hit jackson, you never go back. When I was there I met people from France, England, Japan, and I hope that this year this competition will allow me to hang with some of my buddies. I'm Daniel, I rip, I shred, and I'm looking to dust some powder off my soaking clothes at the end of an awesome Vacation!
Even when the weather is well below freezing I like to show off my wild side. Skiing is my favorite way to have some excitement, enjoy the outdoors and live life to the fullest. As a student currently in dental school, it is not very often I get to let loose and take time off from my studies. At Jackson Hole I could let my wild side roar. Tearing down the powdery slopes Jackson Hole is famous for and soaking up the Wyoming blue skis would be an exhilarating experience that would be just the cure for my overloaded brain. I never hit the slopes without my leopard bandana and you can be sure it will follow me and my wild side to Jackson Hole.
We definitely took a leap on the wild side, and got married in Teton National Park! The both of us have enjoyed many wild vacations in Jackson Hole during the summer and fall months! Screaming elk, bears, hiking, biking, camping and river rafting! We have a great love for Jackson Hole and The Tetons and have dreamed of experiencing the winter. We are skiers and have raced down the mountains at Snowbird, Park City, Deer Valley, Brighton, The Canyons and Steamboat Springs and I know JHMR has phenomenal runs that will stomp out the rest! Our love for adventure and the outdoors continues to bring us to Jackson Hole and share our experiences with everyone! Every trip we bring more and more friends and family with us who are now addicted! We love the diversity that Jackson Hole has to offer all year long. Nothing can stop the beauty of this valley and enormous mountains, not even a fire. The fire of September 2012 happened to start on our wedding day, yet the Tetons prevailed and were stunning for our big day! We are very much looking forward to flying down the runs at JHMR this winter!
My dad has been bringing me, my brother and mom to Jackson for the last 2 years to ski around Christmas. I wanted to take my snowboard but he said no, I'm going to learn to ski. I guess I learned quickly. My first year I started on the Teeweenot run. The next day I did Apres Vous and then the Gandi. I like Gros Ventre and Toad and going through the terrain park. My ski nickname is skeletonhead rocks. Last year I got my initiation to the top on the Tram. We live in Colorado, but my dad says Jackson is his favorite place to ski because the mountain and the people are awesome. He lived in Cody for years and has been going to Jackson since 1976. When I get really good, I'm going to try Corbets.
Well J-Hole, here it is, my best shot. As you might guess, I like skiing a lot. East Coast born and raised, I can sure rip on ice. And in the off season, the sand dunes are nice. But oh how I'd love to shred some real snow. Knee deep? Chest deep? I don't even know. I dream of your sidecountry and of getting first tram. Hearing those early avy blasts… BAM! Thighs burning, cheeks rosy, tons of face shots. I like it steep n' deep, with a side of big drops. If you're looking for wild-- I won't let you down. I'll tear up the slopes and then tear up the town. Roundtrip airfare? I don't think I'll need that, 'cause I hear once in Jackson, there's no coming back.
“Head West Ladies, Head West…” We have been eagerly awaiting this year’s transition to winter season since the summer. For us in a time of transition it would only be appropriate that we “head west” this season. As recent college graduates who have transitioned into the real world, opportunities like this are limited. As best friends who have been hitting the slopes together since we met 5 years ago, this would be an opportunity to step away from the everyday grind and to get back to doing what we love the most. But the ultimate transition would be from east coast ice to west coast powder. We are definitely the best two ladies to show everyone at Jackson Hole that us eastcoasters can shread the mountain as hard and as long as the best of them and we look forward to exploring all that the Jackson Hole Resort has to offer. Can’t wait for this next transition to Head West, Head West…
