Euro Roast

The athlete crew and I united in Zurich, Switzerland on a gorgeous sunny day. Dash Longe, Cody Barnhill, Kaye Peterson, and myself, plus 4 ski bags, 4 duffel bags, two camera packs, and 4 carry on backpacks jammed into a brand new Jeep and we drove 4 hours over to the town of Gargellen, Austria. There we met up with cinematographers Matt Herriger and Steve Jones, as well as pro snowboarder and Montafon ambassador, Eric Themel. It seemed like the snow was about to completely melt when miraculously we were blessed with snow - lots of snow. It dumped and dumped and before we even knew where we were, we were skiing waist deep pow. We stayed in Eric's lovely willage for 5 days before moving on to the St. Anton/Arlberg region. The new snow was holding on despite climbing temperatures and we had our pick of big mountain lines. We met up with Gigi Ruff and a few other Burton riders for a jump session in the town of Stuben and afterwards moved on to Arosa, Switzerland. We nicknamed the town "Slow Roastah" for its pace of life and small town vibe. There is no driving of cars after midnight, which is probably in everyone's best interests. Everyone was skiing well despite Dash's close encounter with an avalanche and Cody broken thumb - Kaye was stomping huge airs left and right. After Arosa, we endured a grueling 8 hour trek to La Clusaz, France for the Candide Invitational. The weather was difficult at his event, but everyone managed to hit the jumps. The trip was amazing and whenever anyone tells you not to go to Europe, go anyway and see what happens....
