It's been a real bleak winter so far. We've had just a couple of storms but nothing substantial. Jones and I decide to check the conditions of a coulior near the south shore of Tahoe for our first trip together this season. When we get there the parking lot is bone dry and so is the approach through the woods. We can't even put our boards on until 30 minutes into the hike. The prospect of filming does not look good, but who knows what Jones has up his sleeve.

**The coulior is located in the center of the peak and exits heading toward the small tree in the foreground**

**Looks like late summer, not early December!**

**As we get closer to the base of the mountain we decide that there is just enough snow in the coulior to get through it. By just enough I mean just enough for Jones. There is no way that I, or anyone else I know, would come here in such low-tide conditions. It's just way too sketchy, especially considering this is our first time on snow this season. No warm up-straight to gnar!**

**At the top we initially think that there is no entrance to the coulior and have to rappel to inspect. Jones goes in at the top and I rap from above my planned film spot in order to get another view. I run out of rope and can't quite get over the edge to see the roll over in the face so I have no beta for him. Fortunately he sees enough of the run to feel comfortable with continuing.**

**3-2-1 Dropping!**

**Mid-run. Cool, calm, collected.**

**Jones on the exit. Now it's time for me to climb out.**

**The spots I get myself into to film from are sometimes more fun to get out of. Since my rope was too short to see the whole coulior I had to use my mono-pod as a boom to film with. It all worked out.**

**Back down safely. We'll be heading back in the dark, setting the tone for so many trips to come.**

**Maybe we'll come back for this little guy.**
