P N Dub

By: Shelley  |  Tuesday, November 20, 2007

After a punctured front tire, a really nice mechanic, a very inquisitive and creepy old man, a sauced up GPS system, and hours of doing the robot while contained in a Jeep Rubicon we finally made it to the Pacific Northwest.

The next morning we were off to Seattle. Before the show, we stopped off at Pikes Market to see some fish being thrown and to check out the sites.  That night’s show was a success. Neumos was packed and full of stoke for TGR’s Lost and Found. After the film, Biomecca, a local Jackson band, took the stage and blew us all away. Next up was a local favorite, Optimus Rhyme, which kept the party going.  These guys rocked and had an impressive fan base.

On Saturday we were back in Portland for our premiere at the Hawthorne Theatre. The crowd was loud and full of opinions. Biomecca tore it up one more time and then Sand People, in all their glory, took the stage.

Thanks to everyone for a great tour season and a special thanks to Ashely Hogge (aka DJ Wheezie) for photos.

Burlington Lost and Found Premiere

By: Chris Germain |  Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Burlington is always a favorite for TGR since many of us here have connections to UVM and the surrounding area. To make it even more special, Marc Andre Belliveau has attended the Burlington show for the last 8 years and he was there again this year to rock the crowd with the Marc Andre Belliveau Band.

The first showing was packed with family and kids who were stoked, not only on the movie, but on the tons of giveaways they went home with. TGR grom athlete, Jesse Wells, and his family were in attendance and it was great to see them in the crowd.

After the first show was over, the Marc Andre Belliveau Band came out on stage and got the crowd psyched and ready to party. In another surprise visit, Ian McIntosh showed up last minute to sign autographs and give away a pair of Dynastar skis.

Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. The lights went down and the movie played to a typical Burlington crowd response: focused.  Every year skiers and riders come out of the woodwork to see the premiere. Most of those skiers and riders spend their winters enduring the Freezer lift at Jay and hiking around every nook and cranny at Stowe to find those elusive deep turns. Skiing is serious business in Northern VT and we appreciate every person who shows up to the Tour year after year.

And of course, after the show a standard night of Church Street debauchery ensued. May the pow be with you. Until next year…

The Front Range

By: Shelley  |  Friday, October 19, 2007

Bang on! TGR took Boulder, Denver and Ft. Collins by storm last weekend. We hit the road with everyone’s favorite, Bang Camaro. Our first stop on the Front Range tour was Boulder. The Boulder Theatre was packed and everyone was stoked for some free swag and to see Lost and Found.  Bang rocked out with an entire group sing along.

Saturday we were off to Denver for some delicious Bloody Marys. Again, Bang Camaro tore it up at the Ogden Theatre and everyone had a killer time thanks to Mr. Jim Beam and the Absolut team. The Christy Sports team and the Steamboat Springs crowd didn't hold back either. Thanks Jim Beam!

Next stop was Ft. Collins for a lively Sunday night show. CSU was out and ready to rage. After the show Garaj Mahal jammed out, and even Hamby broke out his hula hoop. Gotta love college towns.

A special thanks to William Stube and Eric Hansen for pictures.

Park City Lost and Found Premiere

By: Chris Germain |  Tuesday, October 02, 2007

3.2 beer be damned, Park City was ready to rally for TGR's newest ski and snowboard film, Lost and Found. Despite the line being a few blocks long, everyone got into Harry O's in time to get some drinks and rock out to the local opening band. Mingling among the crowd were Jeremy Nobis, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Lynsey Dyer, and Cody Barnhill.

After some quick giveaways, including a pair of Dynastar skis, it was show time. The lights dimmed and Lost and Found appeared on the huge main screen and the 6 flat screen TV's surrounding the venue. If you weren't in a good viewing position by the time the lights went down you were out of luck because the place was packed. Cheers were heard throughout the movie and everyone was stoked. As soon as the credits rolled the bar was swarmed, LBC took the stage, and everyone proceeded to rage it for the rest of the night.

As a testament to what a good ski and snowboard movie premiere can do, the mountains were blanketed in snow the next morning. Thanks to everyone who came out for the showing and we'll see you next year.

Bozeman Montana Lost And Found Premiere

By: Lynsey Dyer |  Friday, September 28, 2007

I'd like to personally thank every one of the nearly 2000 people that showed up in Bozeman, MT for TGR's Lost and Found premiere last Thursday night for reminding me why I ski.  The night can be described in three words that interestingly enough start with R...Rowdy, Real and Relieving.

Loyal ski movie enthusiasts with beer filled backpacks lined up early and stretched the length of a football field out of the Emerson Theater into a torrential downpour that didn't hinder them a bit.  From promoters to security guards, families to students, the true mountain vibe in Bozeman was as good as it gets.  People crowd surfed, engaged in drunken debauchery, jumped on stage rambling about the "passion for skiing",  and I think it was the first time I've seen a ski crowd do "the wave".

For me it was a much needed refresher that young people are still hungry for the same thing I am; fresh powder and friends to share it with. It's rare these days, but in the same way an early tram car can change 100 strangers into best friends for a moment, sometimes a ski movie has the power to transform a thousand individuals into a single unit of camaraderie in celebration of the one thing that makes them all the same- their collective love for snow. It's the only place, outside of a church, where I've witnessed total strangers turn to the row behind them and hug. Whether it was inspired by sheer stoke or just massive amounts of alcohol we may never know.

For most of us outside the Pacific Northwest, last season was a tough one. I recently returned from the IF3 ski movie premieres in Montreal, where the loudest cheers came for the rail segments.  The Bozeman crowd reminded me that the love and search for powder snow,  weightlessness, and high fives at the bottom are still alive and well regardless if we actually get the powder we dream about,  My gratitude for being part of something bigger than myself and having the opportunity to share the experience goes deep, just like the snow's going to be this winter!  Thanks Rossignol, TGR and everyone in-between who loves it like I do.  In the words of Kye Peterson last week at IF3, "Fuck roller blading, ski pow".  Yeah!

~ Lynsey
