Chelone Miller was always one to watch on the mountain. He lived his life his way. Hard charging, fast on his board, creative lines and smooth moves was what I saw in his riding style. His passion and confidence was inspiring. He had a great spirit and it rubbed off on all of us. It was great to get to know him over the last few seasons on The Rahlves' Banzai Tour and see him rise to the top with three RBT wins (one 2012 & two 2013) and the 2013 Overall Men Snowboard Title he claimed March 10th, 2013. Will Never Forget You Chilly!

This week in April 2012 I finally got my shot at "Atomic Spine" in the Northern Chugach filming for Dream Factory. Team discussions with my Teton Gravity Research crew on safety and snow conditions were covered. After passing it up two times on the trip due to a few red flags, it felt right that day. I was confident skiing it, but what's not in my control all the time is what happened here. I fought hard to stay on my skis and escape the fall line I was getting pulled into. No chance to take it skiers right as planned. Thanks to the BCA Float 18 for keeping me out of some scary stuff.

"I was actually concerned that it might have become huge and overwhelming with all the attention at Squaw Valley now too, and especially with the perfect conditions we had. I’ve sure heard the banzai talked about a lot more in the last year, but for me, it’s perfect the way it is.
My only goal was to run the qualifier, which I did, but I ate it in the chop trying to check my speed before the keyhole. I dug out and finished, but I was disappointed not to know where might have stood with a real time. In the end I went from thinking that the skier-cross is risky and crazy, to thinking that it looks like tons of fun. The fact that everybody who shows up is so easy going helps with that a lot. I knew the race would be exciting, but I didn’t expect to have so much fun. Every single person I met was really friendly – very different from what I remember from my racing days with everybody with their game face on."
